heartbreaker

I don’t have a picture of this (it would just be too awful to take!) but as Linley is becoming more and more aware of things, we are having more and more fun, but we are also having a harder time saying ‘goodbye’. I don’t mean ‘goodbye’, we’re leaving you alone in the house with someone else. I mean ‘goodbye’ you’re going to take a nap now and I’ll see you in an hour and a half. She snuggles up as I sing or hum to her for a bit to calm down into sleep mode (which we both love) before laying her on her belly (still awake). But more often than not, as I lay her down, she’ll start whining, turn her head around and watch me leave her room as if to say, ‘WHY, oh why, are you abandoning me?!’ Lately she’s been falling asleep within just a couple of minutes of my leaving her room (PRAISE. THE. LORD.), but I find myself pep-talking, ‘stay strong! she’s just fine!’ Heartbreaker Linley – where wilt we go from here?

rug.

there are a number of things needing to be posted, but I’ll start with this simple and easy item. This is a 15x12ft piece of carpet rolled up in our living room. But this is not its home – we’re having it cut and bound into an 8×10 rug for the dining room!

just one of many things on the to-do list. the asayplacey has been in a constant ‘work in progress’ state since we moved in late January of this year, but we’re headed in the right direction… we hope. More to come!

fun with great gramps n gram.

Last week Linley and I headed to Mtown to visit Great Grandpa Bob and Great Grandma Joyce and Great Great Aunt Tink. :) For some reason you add an extra great for aunts??

It was great.. no, Great Great GREAT…  to see them, especially since Tink hadn’t seen Linley!

After visiting Aunt Tink we met Gramps back at their place for some lunch.

(Side note:Linley was super content! Let me follow that up by saying that Linley is content provided one thing: SLEEP! I can expand on this later, but we drove around Mtown while the little lady snoozed so that our time with Gramps n Gram could be a pleasant one.)

This part is probably my favorite. Don’t meals of ANY kind just taste better when Grandma makes it? However simple it may be, it is almost always the very best meal you’ve had. That’s what this was.

pork sandies and cottage cheese! Let’s not forget the tomatoes though. This is just one of the many many reasons why my gramps is the best. Grandma asked him to slice some tomatoes to have with our lunch so gramps whipped out this ‘small machete’ to get the job done.

Maybe it’s just a guy thing. Tad seems to always go for the, not necessarily biggest, but sharpest knife we’ve got, whether it’s made for something else or not. Here’s to it!

The dinner was delicious, even though I scarfed it down in all of 20 seconds! Some little lady was sleepy and therefore irritable. Gramps tried to calm her and she just wasn’t havin it!

So Grandma and I finish our sandwiches while Gramps and Linley have some one::one and all of a sudden from the other room we hear the giddiest laughter coming from my irritable babe. We look to find them playing with a stuffed doll that Grandpa is bobbling the head of. She seemed to think it was just hilarious!

I’m really glad I was able to get these! Thanks, Grandma for asking me to get my camera out!!! We couldn’t stay for too much longer as Linley has a hard time sleeping if there’s a party going on, so we headed for home. Until next time! Our family Thanksgiving/Christmas is at the end of October. More fun to come!

sixth month surprise!

me: Linley, why are you biting your daddy’s ear off?!

Linley: what ELSE do you do when you’re trying out your FIRST TOOTH, Mom?!!

Yes. That’s right, folks! We’ve got a tooth.  We had suspicions then one day there it was – sharp as ever! Linley tried to show it to us as seen below (Isn’t she great?!):

We helped a little. Though you can’t really see it quite yet. Can you find it? I tried to assist.

This new tooth could be the culprit behind the baby blues we experienced last week, but we’ll never know. Needless to say, we are now a very happy 6 month old babe! More photos to come to celebrate!

our Sunday afternoon.

We really enjoy Sunday afternoons – particularly on a day like today! 72° and sunny! There’s typically not much going on, we can work on things we enjoy, and just relax and enjoy the day that the Lord has made (like a TRUE sabbath!)

We all enjoy doing different things. I enjoy mine, Linley enjoys her nap (well, we all enjoy Linley enjoying her nap!), and below, Tad is enjoying his:

This is a 1964 mini cooper that we purchased the first year we were married and had high hopes of fixing up in just a few months and be saving gas with the windows down all summer long – then life happened, we got busy, things break, houses are purchased, we decided to help raise the next generation (joyfully) and the fun hobbies are reserved for days like today. One day… (note: Tad really knows what he’s doing. No sarcasm there. I really am excited to see what he’ll make of it one day!)

But tad wasn’t the only one having a little fun today! Let me zoom out just a little:

Notice the globe in the top right window of the mini – I put it there. :) I enjoyed a little photo shoot this afternoon of ‘things I like’ for the BIO portion of my new website. It’s not ‘launched’ just yet, but I’m hoping for later this month… again, that whole life happens thing. Keep your eyes out for it! and happy Sunday!

ps. Linley is getting better with the congestion, but has developed a nasty cough. Tad stayed home with her today while I served in the nursery at church, so pray for her – especially that she’s better by Tuesday! We’re visiting great grandam Joyce and great Aunt Tink! Shoot – just pray for all of us – Tad’s got the sniffles, and I’m getting a scratchy throat (my least favorite thing!) VINEGAR VINEGAR VINEGAR! gargle gargle.

baby blues.

I wish the baby blues I am talking about were the blue baby eyes, but unfortunately they’re not; baby’s GOT the blues. :( Little Lady has been under the weather for about 3 days now. She just woke one morning with snot covering her upper lip and boogies stuck to her forehead.

She’s much better today, with more energy, but is still congested. We’re glad she’s feeling a little better, as Tad and I will be out shooting a wedding while Linley and Grandma Marty hang together. We don’t like sick babes! One plus though – lots of cuddles! (Jen – you’re right!)
